Petr Samec

Hi, I'm Petr Samec. I've been working in film for 30 years. After moving to Italy in 1989, I learned Italian and started working as an interpreter on the set of the Italian TV movie Young Mussolini, starring Antonio Banderas. I interpreted for 1st Assistant Director Gabrielle Polverosi, who worked with Michelangelo Antonioni for many years. That experience was my education. I fell in love with the job, and that love continues to this day. In the early years, I worked as a first assistant director (1AD) for the Czech side on various international co-productions. Such as: Mutter Courage (1994), directed by Michael Verhoeven; Peacekeepers (1999), a motion picture by the BBC and Space Films Prague, directed by Peter Kosminski; Doctor Zhivago (2002), a motion picture by Granada Television Ltd. & Czech Anglo, directed by Giacomo Campiotti; Charles II (2003), a TV series by the BBC and Czech Anglo Productions, directed by Joe Wright. At the turn of the century, I started making commercials for Filmservice Prague, Stillking, Milk and Honey, and various other productions. Nowadays, I do fewer commercials. I felt that I couldn't fulfill the essence of the profession with service jobs, so I focused more on working on films, mostly Czech or Central European co-productions.
